Leaving the water is one stage in a longer process. The pattern has formed, but its color continues to develop.

Revealed gradually.

At JeLac, the revelation stage takes place over 10–15 days. Oxidation and exposure to natural sunlight gradually bring depth and brightness to the lacquer surface.

Time as a material.

This interval is part of the making. Water forms the pattern; light reveals its color; time completes the creation. Each stage contributes something that the others cannot.

The finished piece carries both the instant of formation and the patience that followed.
