At first, there is only movement. Color meets water, expanding and drawing itself into fine lines, open spaces and unexpected edges. A small current changes what comes next. A moment passes; the pattern has already moved on.

Working with a process.

JeLac begins with this open-ended exchange. Traditional lacquer and mineral-based pigments form on water, where a pattern emerges through their movement. The role of the maker is to work with that process and recognize a moment worth carrying forward.

The value of difference.

The resulting band holds one arrangement of lines and colors. Another piece may share a palette, but its details will follow a different path. Variation is part of the formation itself.

A single, unrepeatable lacquer flow. A small record of a moment in motion.
